Antwerp FC has won gold with Senne Lammens. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who became the first goalkeeper at the Bosuil last summer, impresses with his performance. Lammens has not only proven himself in the Belgian competition, but also attracts international attention.

Lammens started his career at Club Brugge, where he stood out as a promising goalkeeper through the youth ranks. However, a breakthrough in the main squad failed to materialize, mainly due to strong competition from Simon Mignolet. In the summer of 2023, he decided not to extend his expiring contract and opted for a transfer-free transfer to Antwerp FC.

In his first season, Lammens had to settle for a role as reserve goalkeeper behind Jean Butez. But last summer, Antwerp decided to take full advantage of the young Belgian. That decision paid off: Lammens is emerging as one of the strongest goalkeepers in the Belgian competition.

Penalty killer and interest from England

This season, Lammens proved his worth several times with crucial saves. In the derby against Beerschot (1-1) he saved his third penalty of the season. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed by top clubs. For example, Manchester United was recently mentioned as a possible destination. Bee Extra Time Lammens responded wittily to the rumours: “Maybe,” he said with a smile when asked whether he should stop Bruno Fernandes’ penalties soon.
