FC St. Pauli travels to Bochum for a very important game. The Federal Constitutional Court has made an important ruling – and KFC Uerdingen is once again insolvent.

FC St. Pauli

6-point game in Bochum

press conference

Yesterday’s press conference is available in words and pictures.
As you can see from Tim’s preliminary report, there will probably be no major changes to the squad; the game comes too early for the potential returnees around Elias Saad.
However, there is hope Johannes Eggestein – whether he then immediately returns to the starting eleven, or Daniel Sinani It still remains to be seen if it starts again.

VfL Bochum also published its press conference in words and pictures, the stadium is sold out. Tim Oermann, Anthony Losilla and Mats Pnewig are not available.

Sven was a guest at “VfL again and again”-Podcast. First it’s about sport and the defeat in Mainz, then about a Bochum fan club from Norway. From 52m57s you will hear the conversation with Sven.
And finally there is Thees Uhlmannwho, as usual, analyzes the situation objectively and, after completing all his research, comes up with a “15-point game”. No pressure, FCSP!

Statistics

The game has taken place 37 times in the two Bundesligas and the DFB Cup, most of which were in the 2nd league (24 times). With 13 wins and nine defeats as well as 15 draws, FC St. Pauli’s record is in the lead, and even in the Ruhrstadion this is almost even with 6:5 wins for VfL. However: The five away wins came in the 2nd league (4x) and in the DFB Cup. From the five games in the first league so far, FC St. Pauli only got two draws.

The last away point at VfL in the 1st league came in April 1990, when St. Pauli couldn’t hold on to a 2-0 and 3-1 lead (2x Golke, 1x Knäbel) and ended up with a 3-3 had to be content.
The last first division game between both teams in the Ruhrstadion was in May 1997, when VfL won 6-0 and moved into the European Cup. It was a pretty legendary special train ride for the FCSP, with Carsten Pröpper joining in the party car “Stand up if you want Maslo” was the first to throw it onto the drunken floor.
Since then they have only met in Bochum in the 2nd league, most recently Daniel-Kofi Kyereh secured a 2-2 draw with a late brace.

referee

Daniel Siebert will lead the teams onto the pitch.
This is his second game this season with both clubs. He refereed VfL Bochum in their 2-1 defeat in Freiburg on matchday 3, and he was able to admire FC St. Pauli in the cup game in Halle.

Fan-Infos

As always, you can find out everything you need to know at the fan shop.

Holstein Kiel could against Borussia Dortmund record three points that were not necessarily planned. BVB’s performance was disastrous, especially in the first half, with Kiel “only” leading 3-0. With a double strike in minutes 71 and 77, BVB came close again and even played in the majority in the last few minutes. Lewis Holtby came on as a substitute in the 76th minute and was allowed to take a shower ten minutes later after he tackled Nmecha from behind – a clean and clear red. The guests threw everything forward again and the six minutes of stoppage time indicated were extended. But when the last corner sailed into the penalty area, Holstein countered and Fiete Arp was almost allowed to shoot from the halfway line into the empty goal – 4:2 (3:0).

Bayer 04 Leverkusen deservedly won against FSV Mainz 05 with 1:0 (0:0). The loss of Jonathan Burkardt, who grabbed his left thigh after just three minutes and had to be replaced, could be more annoying for the guests. Grimaldo scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute with a remarkable free kick.

Eintracht Frankfurt marches on and shakes pursuers SC Freiburg with 4:1 (1:1) loosen up. Omar Marmoush again contributed a goal and two assists, Frankfurt consolidated third place with the win.

He even won one goal higher VfL Wolfsburg against Borussia Mönchengladbachhere was a at the end 5:1 (1:0) on the scoreboard. An early penalty (Wind, 3rd) put the Wolves on the road to victory, Gladbach missed the equalizer and then went down in the second half, Lukas Nmecha scored twice in the 84th and 87th before Fukuda scored a consolation goal for the guests succeeded.

Federal Constitutional Court

You will have noticed: The Federal Constitutional Court has rejected the DFL’s complaint against the fee notices from Bremen. Passing on additional costs for police operations in high-security games is fundamentally legal.
Whether it makes sense, however, is not the court’s remit – and will certainly continue to be discussed lively.
I have collected some of the basis for discussion, links and much more in a comment here:

KFC Uerdingen: Tax office files for bankruptcy

The not-so-funny running gag in German football: There’s another insolvency procedure going on KFC Uerdingenwho currently plays in the Regionalliga West. This time the tax office has submitted the application to open the procedure (kicker).
But it wouldn’t be half as nice if it wasn’t accompanied by the usual mudslinging. While board member Dirk Röthig announced that the news of the insolvency agreement “not surprising” came and detailed the poor financial situation, first chairman Thomas Platzer lashed out in a follow-up statement on the club’s homepage: “I do not agree in any way with the approach of the two remaining board members and the board of directors and will do everything I can to prevent possible insolvency.”
At least popcorn production around the Grotenburg remains stable.

Last but not least

The choice for “Poop goal of the month December 2024” is pending.
