Danira Boukhriss and Ward Kerremans are moving to Mechelen with their son: “With pain in the heart, but Mechelen has many advantages”

2025 will be a big year for VRT face Danira Boukhriss. Not only does she return to the small screen after a year, but she also leaves her beloved Brussels to live in Mechelen with her boyfriend and actor Ward Kerremans and their son. “Mechelen has many advantages, especially for parents with young children.”

She herself lost her heart to Brussels, but now that her son Naïm has arrived, her boyfriend was able to convince her to move to Mechelen. “Ward is a Malinois and he convinced me to return to his home country,” says the presenter in an interview with The Latest News. “With pain in my heart, because I love Brussels very much. I will miss it there, but Mechelen also has many advantages, especially for parents with young children.”

“There are fewer traffic jams, there is always greenery within walking distance, there are many playgrounds…,” she explains. “In addition, we now live closer to our parents, which can also be useful if we need last-minute care for Naïm.”

Return to VRT

Danira also returns to Flemish screens. Her last TV appearance dates from the Kastaars, last year in January. Afterwards, she was seven months pregnant and, on doctor’s orders, spent eight weeks in the couch to prevent premature birth. She gave birth to her son Naïm at the end of March and has since devoted herself fully to motherhood.

The third season of it also started last Friday De repair shop on VRT1, although that series was shown before her pregnancy. Her next project is also on the agenda: she wants to reorganize families’ homes in a new program. Before that, she started looking for participants whose home is a mess or who have a shortage of space. It is not known when the as yet untitled program will be on TV.
