Second by nothing in 2021, the French Charlie Dallin (Macif) won the 10th Vendée Globe on Tuesday in Les Sables-d’Olonne, establishing the new reference time for the solo round-the-world race, in 64 days 19 hours 22 minutes and 49 seconds, the organizers announced.
“I have never experienced emotions like this. It was madness at this finish line with the daylight starting to break through. I had never experienced that in my life, it was incredible. This is the best finish line of my career, by far. This Vendée Globe 2024, I have been dreaming of it since the day after the Vendée Globe 2021, I have been fighting with the team for four years, we have worked hard, we have given everything to build this great boat. We live for that and that’s it, we achieved the goal. I’m super happy with this result with an added record, the Vendée Globe is something unique. It was really intense, I feel like I left the day before yesterday. My 2024 copy is really of much higher quality than what I was able to bring out in 2020. It was an incredible match with Yoann Richommeit’s his first Vendée and it seems like he’s been doing this all his life. It’s thanks to him that we traveled around the world in such a short time. This pushed me to always return canvas, dig, dig, dig. It’s thanks to this duel“, indicated the Frenchman.
