Referee Dionisi’s performance at the U-Power Stadium in the Serie A postponement analyzed by X-ray, the Abruzzo whistler booked five players
In his seventh season with Can Federico Dionisi – Rocchi’s choice for Monza-Fiorentina – was the first referee from L’Aquila to referee first in the cadet championship and then in Serie A (on 16 March 2019 he made his debut in Serie A in the Sassuolo-Sampdoria match). This season he had only been used in Serie B before making his debut in Serie A at Bentegodi for Verona-Monza. Let’s see how he fared yesterday at UPower Stadium.
Dionisi’s history with Monza and Fiorentina
There were five previous matches with the Viola with a score of one win, two draws and two defeats. Away from home he refereed only once for the Gigliati in Bologna-Fiorentina 3-3 on 2 May 2021 (where he awarded a penalty to Fiore and was converted by Vlahovic). No crossings with Brianza.

Monza-Fiorentina, slow motion cases
These are the dubious episodes of the race. In the 16th minute Pablo Marì knocks down Sottil in the area: the referee points to the spot. The Monza defender was warned but the VAR called Dionisi back to the on field review, the referee corrected himself, retracing his steps and also revoking the yellow card for Marì. As you can see from the images indeed Sottil falls but Marì does nothing to hit him and cannot move after the intervention and end up in the path of the attacker. In the 60th minute Turati was given a yellow card for wasting time. In the 68th minute Carboni intertwines with Beltran almost on the goal line and the referee points to the spot, the push is slight but the VAR cannot intervene in these cases.
At the end the match director loses control of a match at the mercy of nervousness and ends up extracting an excessive number of cards. In the 76th minute Pedro Pereira received a yellow card for a foul on Kouame. In the 87th minute there was a commotion on the pitch following a slap given by Bondo to Beltran, the Monza midfielder was booked together with Ciurria and Ranieri. In the 88th minute there was contact in the Monza area between Bondo and Folorunsho, for the referee there is nothing. After 4′ of injury time Monza-Fiorentina ends 2-1.
