The San Sebastian team won by the minimum with a beautiful goal from Take Kubo at the beginning of the second half.

Marcelino already knows what it’s like to lose against Real at the Reale Arena as coach of a First Division team. The Asturian coach had never bit the dust in his 9 visits with different teams to the Real stadium, but on this occasion the defeat of his current team, Villarreal, has put an end to the streak of the former Athletic coach.

The inclusion of Aritz Elustondo In the center of the defense has been the great novelty in Imanol’s starting eleven.

The people from San Sebastian have not had a good first half, far from it. Take Cubo He has been, once again, the player who has put some bite into the attack of Imanol’s team.

Marcelino’s team has not done much else either, in a game full of inaccuracies and with little public in the stands of the Reale Arena. The schedule and temperature were not those that encouraged people to approach the txuri-urdin stadium.

Real’s first warning in attack was given by Brais in the 3rd minute, but his shot crashed into a defender. Then, a couple of chances for the yellow team, the clearest being Barry shot in the 21st who went outside when he was alone before Remiro.

In 34, Susic The ball hit the post, in a great play by Kubo that was invalidated by a previous foul.

With this poor balance in play and attack, half-time was reached with no goals on the scoreboard.

At the restart the Kubo goal in a great play in which the Japanese takes over a ball cleared by Oyarzabal, surpasses all the rivals that come his way and beats Luiz Junior to put the San Sebastian team ahead in the 51st minute of the game.

In 64 Remiro has avoided the tie with a very good response to Gerard Moreno’s shot.

Susic’s chance

Shortly after, Susic he has had 2-0 in his bootsin a strong shot that the Villarreal goalkeeper managed to clear in extremis.

In the last minutes, Villarreal tried, but without much luck. In the end, 1-0 and the three points have stayed at home in the match that closed the first round.
