Agadir in celebration: celebration of the Amazigh New Year 2975

The people of Agadir celebrate the Amazigh New Year 2975. And their rituals of celebrating “Yennayer” have taken different forms. Traditional dishes are of course in the spotlight: berkouks or takla (porridge) is a mixture of kneaded flour, honey and argan oil, emblematic products of Souss, Guelmim and Draa-Tafilalet. Ourkimen, a recipe composed of seven varieties of legumes cooked in water, is also considered typical of the region.

Since last Friday, festivities have been taking place in public places to preserve cultural heritage deeply rooted in history and transmit it to future generations.

These celebrations will continue Monday and Tuesday with the organization of evenings in Al Amal Square, in the Agadir Oufella kasbah, in Al Wahda Square, in Aït Souss, in the Ibn Zaydoun garden or at the Sahara cinema.

A fireworks display is also planned for the night of Monday January 13 to Tuesday January 14, 2025.
