Spain: 14 in a row for Atlético

Victorious (1-0) at home against Osasuna, Antoine Griezmann's Atlético Madrid signed a 14e consecutive success in all competitions and took the lead in the Spanish championship ahead of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Uninspired offensively, Atlético (1st, 44 points) provided the essentials by winning once again by the smallest of margins thanks to a goal from their summer recruit Julian Alvarez (55e) on a corner played in two stages by Griezmann and headed by Clément Lenglet.

This 14e victory in a row, a record in the history of the club, allows the Colchoneros to overtake their rivals and neighbors Real (2e43 points), currently in Saudi Arabia to play the Spanish Super Cup final against Barça (3e38 points).

Getafe breathes a little

In a duel of poorly ranked players, Getafe mastered Las Palmas (2-1) thanks to goals from Gomez da Costa (70e) et Mayoral (86e). The club from the southern suburbs of Madrid (15e with 19 points) is three lengths behind his opponent of the day (14e22 points).

Germany : Leipzig moves forward in 2025

RB Leipzig dominated Werder Bremen (4-2) thanks in particular to a double from its Dutch striker Xavi Simons, under the eyes of Red Bull's new global football director Jürgen Klopp, Sunday during the 16e Bundesliga day.

Injured in the left ankle during Leipzig's defeat against Liverpool (1-0) in the Champions League on October 24, Xavi Simons returned to the offensive side of the eastern German club. He allowed his club to get off on the right foot in 2025 after falling severely for its last match in 2024 against Bayern Munich (5-1).

Xavi Simons at the party

The 21-year-old Dutchman wasted no time, scoring twice in the space of twelve minutes between the 23e and the 35e minute, including a second goal of great beauty, taking the ball 45 meters from the opposing goal, dribbling past three Bremen players and deceiving Robin Zetterer with a 25-meter shot.

With 30 points on the clock, Leipzig remains fourth in the standings, ahead of Frankfurt on goal difference (+6 against +13), while Marco Rose's men are five points behind Bayer Leverkusen (35) and nine behind the Munich leader (39).

FA Cup: Arsenal eliminated by Manchester United

Manchester United, inferior for an hour, created a sensation by eliminating Arsenal (1-1, 5-3 tab) in the 3rd round of the FA Cup after a penalty shootout where the Mancunian replacement goalkeeper Altay Bayindir made the difference.

The Turkish goalkeeper was the hero of the Mancuniens by repelling a penalty from Martin Odegaard (72e) in the second half, at 1-1, and repelling Kai Havertz's shot on goal in the final session. He offers his supporters a precious success after four defeats and a draw, at Liverpool (2-2) last weekend, which had already been very encouraging.

THE Red Devils opened the scoring thanks to their captain Bruno Fernandes (52e0-1), author of a nice recovery from a cross from Alejandro Garnacho. But they suffered two hard blows in the space of two minutes: the expulsion of defender Diogo Dalot for a second yellow card (61e), then Arsenal's equalizer on a volley from Gabriel (63e1-1) deflected by a defender.

However, they did not sink, defeating Arsenal on penalties. Nothing is going well for the Gunners who went on to a third match without a win on Sunday and lost their striker Gabriel Jesus to injury before receiving their great rival Tottenham in the league on Wednesday.

Tottenham got scared

Tottenham played to scare themselves against the fans of Tamworth (D5) on Sunday during the 3rd round of the Coupe d'Anglettere. The Spurs won 3-0 after extra time thanks to an own goal from Tshikuna (101e) then the achievements of Kulusevski (107e) and Johnson (118e). In the other matches, logic was respected.

Italy : Napoli respond to Inter and keep control

Naples did not tremble: while Inter had returned to a point thanks to their victory in Venice (1-0) on Sunday afternoon, Antonio Conte's team dominated Verona 2 to 0 in the evening and regained his distance at the top of the Italian Championship.

After just five minutes of play, Giovanni Di Lorenzo gave his team the lead with a curling shot. Napoli, deprived of their Georgian striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who asked to leave the club, possibly to join SG, doubled the lead thanks to their defender Frank Anguissa (61), for his third goal of the season in a month.

Thanks to this 14e victory of the season, already one more than during his catastrophic 2023-24 season, the leader pushed Inter back to four points. For Pavard's return, the reigning champion was content with the minimum on the field of promoted and poorly ranked Venice (1-0) thanks to Matteo Darmian (16e).

Vieira's Genoa finally wins at home

In Genoa, Patrick Vieira is waking up Genoa who moved from 13e at 11e place with 23 points this Sunday thanks to its first home success of the season against promoted Parma (1-0).

The Dane Morten Frendrup scored the only goal of the match in the 65the minute. “We had a great match from the first to the 90the minute, everyone had been waiting for this victory for 233 days and we achieved it after a great match against a tough opponent,” rejoiced Vieira.
