Sunday January 12, Cécile de France is the guest of “L’interview culture” on franceinfo. Starring in “Par amour”, the 49-year-old actress comes to defend a film in which she confronts the fantastic register for the first time.
-With more than 40 feature films and 2 Césars to her credit, she is one of the most popular actresses in French cinema. In 2025, Cécile de France returns to cinemas to star in “Par amour”, the new film by Élise Otzenberger. “It’s the story of a family in crisis, with an overworked, anxious mother. It’s a couple on the verge of divorce, their marriage has worn out over time. (…) In this family a crisis will occur. supernatural event”explains the actress. One day, Simon, the eldest son of the family, reveals to his mother that he hears voices.
In “Par amour”, the spectator first witnesses an intimate and naturalistic story, “in which we can recognize ourselves”underlines Cécile de France, who plays Sarah, the mother of the family. The film then goes “poetically towards a fantastic story”. It also addresses the relationships between parents and children, which often have their share of difficulties. But when Sarah has to save her son, nothing matters: “She will take risks, let go of all social injunctions and the rules of decency. (…) But by instinct, she will never do something that could put her children in danger”.
For Cécile de France, this is a first in the fantastic register on the big screen. “I love it because we bring you into a story, we let go of the Cartesian side of society. (…) It’s this part of childhood that the director and I want to preserve”she emphasizes.
