Marco Odermatt equalized an ancient record, Loïc Meillard secured the first double victory on the Chuenisbärgli since 2008. Thomas Tumler and Luca Aerni also impressed.
The podium
- 1. Marco Odermatt (SUI) +2:27.55 minutes
- 2. Loïc Meillard (SUI) +0.20 Seconds
- 3. Luca De Aliprandini (ITA) +0.69
What a Swiss day of joy at the giant slalom classic on Chuenisbärgli: Marco Odermatt and Loïc Meillard secured the first Swiss double victory in Adelboden since 2008. Starting third at halftime, the top favorite withstood the immense pressure. Odermatt released the unleashed Luca De Aliprandini as Leader and was able to watch in the finish area as Henrik Kristoffersen was eliminated. Half-time leader Meillard had the best time until shortly before the end, but missed victory by 20 hundredths.
Odermatt also made Swiss ski history for another reason. With his 4th win in a row, he equalized the ancient record of the legendary Ingemar Stenmark, who always won in Adelboden between 1979 and 1982. Meillard also reacted strongly to the disappointment of the previous day’s slalom exit and celebrated his 3rd podium finish at Chuenisbärgli (third in 2021 and 2023).
The other Swiss
- 4. Thomas Tumler +1.14
- 7. Luca Aerni +1.86
Thomas Tumler and Luca Aerni rounded off the perfect Swiss day in front of thousands of euphoric fans: Tumler celebrated his most valuable result in fourth place in Adelboden. So far only 19th and 25th (in 8 attempts), he started the decision in 5th place. He couldn’t get past De Aliprandini, but fourth place was his second-best result of the season after the win in Beaver Creek.
-Aerni was able to celebrate the first World Cup points in a giant slalom on the Chuenisbärgli – and how. The slalom specialist, who had only competed in the “giant” once before, showed a courageous second run and improved by 9 places to a strong 7th final place. This is equivalent to the second-best discipline result of his career after the sensational 4th place in Val d’Isère in December 2024.
This is how it continues
After the Adelboden weekend, the drivers move on to Wengen. The Super-G, the legendary downhill run and the slalom take place at the Lauberhorn between Friday and Sunday, before the next classic weekend takes place in Kitzbühel a week later.
