The podium

Marco Odermatt wins the giant slalom in Adelboden ahead of his compatriot and teammate Loïc Meillard and the Italian Luca De Aliprandini.

The scene of the race

Who other than Marco Odermatt should win the giant slalom in Adelboden? The Swiss ski superstar turned it up a notch after the first run and stole the show from all the other riders. The Dominator showed an almost perfect ride in the second run and took his fourth win in a row on the Chuenisbärgli. It is his 42nd World Cup success.

This is how the other Swiss fared

Thomas Tumler goes into the second run with a big lead over De Aliprandini, but cannot defend it. In the end there is a great fourth place. Luca Aerni started the second race in 16th place and showed a strong performance. He finished a strong seventh. The youngsters Fadri Janutin, Sandro Zurbrügg and Lenz Hächler all retired after a slip in the first run. Livio Simonet finished his run, but his time only landed him in 37th place in the first run and so missed a second ride on the Chuenisbärgli.

The whispers on the slopes

The Swiss team showed a great team performance in bright sunshine. Four Swiss made it into the top 10. It’s a reconciliatory end for the Swiss ski team in Adelboden, after things didn’t go as planned on Saturday.

This is how it goes

Traditional race follows traditional race. The next legendary race in Switzerland continues next week. The next ski festival will take place in Wengen next weekend. We have the races live.
