Dramatic end to a trip: Two people died in a bus accident in the north of Brandenburg, four were seriously injured and seven others were slightly injured. A large number of rescue workers are on duty. There were wintry road conditions at the time of the accident.
According to reporters on site, the bus is completely on its side. When it snowed, rescuers freed the passengers – mainly through the open front window of the bus.
Flixbus was on the way to Stettin
According to a spokeswoman for the Brandenburg police headquarters, it was a Flixbus that was traveling towards Poland. According to the company, the bus was on its way from Berlin to Stettin.
Accident experts should now investigate what happened. At the time of the accident – around 3 p.m. – wintry road conditions prevailed on Autobahn 11. A truck also stopped across the road there, the spokeswoman said.
According to a spokesman for the East Police Department, the accident occurred in the area of an exit to a parking lot on the A11 just behind the Uckermark triangle. According to initial findings, no other vehicle was involved, it was said. According to the Flix company, there were 13 passengers and a driver on the bus.
Memories of misfortune on the A9
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this accident and their families,” the company said. The exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known. “We are of course working closely with the local authorities and the rescue workers on site and will do everything we can to quickly and completely clarify the cause of the accident.”
As the “Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung” further reported, numerous ambulances were called. A tent was also ordered to care for the injured. Several rescue buses are on the way to the parking lot. Drivers are asked to be considerate and to create an emergency lane, the newspaper continued. The ADAC also warned drivers at the Uckermark intersection in the direction of Stettin of the danger of slippery roads.
The accident brings back memories of a serious bus accident last March. At that time, a double-decker Flixbus with 54 people on board left the road on the A9 near Leipzig and fell onto its side. Four women died and 30 other people were injured, some seriously.
