“You cannot advocate reducing public spending and not apply it to yourself”declares, in an interview with Parisian Saturday January 11, Gérard Larcher. The President of the Senate addresses, on this subject, a mea culpa after the revelation this week, by the Chained duck, that the upper house ordered a new seat for the presidency, for 40,000 euros excluding tax.
Mr. Larcher corrects the price mentioned, “Exactly 34,000 euros for two armchairs and a prototype”, while specifying that the furniture of the Senate has “a story and therefore a cost”. But he recognizes a ” error “ and claims he was not informed. He specifies that he has “requested an investigation” about purchasing this seat. “I expect a change in practices from the Senate administration. I told him so”he continues.
Mr. Larcher also says he expects the new Bayrou government to continue “reducing the deficit and public spending with concrete actions”, while claiming to wait “of the Senate administration a change in practices”.
