A strong AZ has saved a point from the top match against PSV tonight. In Eindhoven, the Alkmaarders took the lead twice through Lahdo and Meerdink. Bosz’s team leveled five minutes before the end through a cheap penalty.

AZ took off in Eindhoven and could and should have scored twice within fifteen minutes. Parrott saw his first big chance saved by Benitez, after which the striker tapped in the rebound. Inexplicably, the striker shot the ball wide.

Not much later, the Irishman was close to scoring again when he shot the ball past Benitez after a nice attack on a pass from Koopmeiners. However, Ledezma came to the goalie’s aid and prevented the ball from completely crossing the goal line with an ultimate sliding.

Halfway through the first half, PSV gained more control over the match and the game played more in the visitors’ half. However, this did not provide any real great opportunities. AZ was dangerous in the transition and that way it was successful just before. Lahdo dribbled in from the left side and then curled the ball beautifully into the far corner.

After the break, PSV increased the pressure, but the Eindhoven team initially did not get further than a few shots from distance. The home team struggled to find a hole in AZ’s defense, after which Bosz intervened with a triple substitution.

Less than a minute after the substitutions, two substitutions were responsible for the equalizer. Veerman sent Til away, after which the midfielder enabled De Jong to score from close range. The hosts then smelled blood and, led by the home crowd, Bosz’s men hunted for the lead.

Martens then also made two substitutions and brought Meerdink and Kasius into the team. Just like with PSV a little earlier, this also turned out to be a golden opportunity. Within a minute, Meerdink gave his team the lead in an unparalleled manner.

The match was then completely open and the Eindhoven team had to give chase again and received help from Makkelie. The referee pointed very eagerly to the spot when Van Bommel got the ball on his arm. De Jong took advantage of this opportunity and brought the score back into balance.
