Fabio Carvalho was slated live on Sky Sports by Clinton Morrison after his performance for Brentford in their shock FA Cup third round defeat to Plymouth Argyle.
Playing in front of their newly-appointed manager Miron Muslic, the Championship’s bottom-placed side secured an excellent win away from home against their Premier League opponents.
Morgan Whittaker’s brilliant strike from range was enough to secure a place in the next round for the Pilgrims, who will no doubt have impressed their new boss.
By contrast though, Morrison was far from impressed with what he saw from Carvalho on the opposite side for Brentford.
Speaking about the game on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (4:53pm), the former Crystal Palace and Birmingham striker said: “Carvalho’s not good enough for me, in my eyes, in this Brentford team. I know he hasn’t been playing Football. But he’s slow, takes too many touches, they like to move it quicker…
“Brentford will be disappointed if they get knocked out. Should have probably gone strong because they’re safe in the Premier League and this is the only cup competition they’d be left in.”

Fabio Carvalho struggling since joining Brentford from Liverpool

Things have not worked out for the winger since he linked up with Thomas Frank’s side from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Carvalho has found game time hard to come by at Brentford, despite the undoubted potential he previously showed in his career.
Against a struggling side in the division below, the Bees will have seen this as an opportunity to get something of a cup run going.
They were though underwhelming in comparison to a much improved Plymouth, and as Morrison noted here, Carvalho was an offender in that sense.
The winger has already been touted for a potential move away from Brentford amid the struggles he is enduring in London.
In the wake of another frustrating performance from Carvalho in this FA Cup upset, that may well leave manager Thomas Frank with something to think about with the January transfer window open.
In other news, Arsenal fans are calling for their club to sign a Brentford player.
