Mamelodi Sundowns right-winger Lesiba Nku could prove the key in the club’s pursuit of Stellenbosch FC’s Jayden Adams. The Cape Winelands club seeks to strengthen its attack with the addition of Nku.
On the other hand, Sundowns are known to be keen on the services of the talented Bafana Bafana midfielder Adams. Nku joined Sundowns on a five-year deal in July 2023 from Marumo Gallants.
Prior to his move to Chloorkop, he played a pivotal role in Gallants’ impressive 2022/23 season, making 31 appearances and guiding the team to the CAF Confederations Cup semi-finals.
Since joining Sundowns in 2023, Nku has made 28 appearances, scoring five goals and providing one assist. However, he has not been featured in any matches for the club this season.
The 28-year-old, who hails from Lephalale in Limpopo, is reportedly eager to leave the club. He could now be used to sweeten a deal that would bring Adams to Gauteng.
STELLENBOSCH FC COACH STEVE BARKER ACKNOWLEDGED A NEED FOR A WINGER
Stellies mentor Steve Barker clarified that his side will look to strengthen its attacking and midfield departments during the January transfer window.
Given their packed fixture schedule, the Maroon Army have struggled a bit in the attacking department. The situation is significantly burdening Adams to perform consistently every week.
With Nku’s transfer to Stellies imminent, this move could alleviate the burden on the Bafana Bafana international, Adams. On the other hand, Lehlogonolo Mojela’s setback has also affected his team’s attacking options.
Mojela is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery to treat a recurring knee injury. This will keep him out of action for most of the season.
A week ago, FATHER Post reported that Stellenbosch have reignited their pursuit to sign TS Galaxy midfielder Thato Khiba in their quest to strengthen their central midfield, with the club having already submitted a formal bid for the Kaizer Chiefs product.
