EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) – A First Alert Weather Day remains in effect this morning for some ice and snow potential on any road north of I-20. It was a cold day yesterday with several rounds of cold rain, sleet, and even snow for those along I-30! Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect through 12PM today. Overnight, temperatures were able to slowly sink to the freezing mark for some locations north of I-20, meaning any moisture that falls will likely stick and accumulate, and standing water will easily freeze some roads and bridges, especially if they are untreated. Please be extra cautious if you have to drive early today. The later you are able to wait before you hit the road, the better. Any accumulated ice or snow that does stick around this morning will begin to melt away starting around 10AM, and roads will quickly improve. Highs for today will range in the upper 30s to near 40° with mostly cloudy skies. Any moisture left over by this evening will then refreeze, leading to some isolated slick spots into Saturday morning. Finally, after a very cold start tomorrow morning in the middle 20s, temperatures will soar into the upper 40s by Saturday afternoon and there will be no additional snow or ice concerns for East Texas. Typical January weather returns for Sunday and for the first half of next week with no hints or whispers of additional shots at any winter weather in the near future.
