DPG Media claims to have achieved a record for the radio group in the 2024 annual figures of the listening survey, with the highest market share ever in the commercial target group of 20-49 years (28.7 percent), partly thanks to the start of JOE on September 1, 2023, which participated in the studies for a full calendar year for the first time.

Qmusic reaches record in 20-49

In 2024, Qmusic achieved an average market share of 20.6 percent in the 20-49 target group and is the largest radio station in the Netherlands in this target group. At number 2 is Radio 538 with a market share of 13.9 percent and at number 3 is NPO Radio 2 with 13.0 percent. With more than 12,800,000 unique listeners in 2024 (target group 13+), Qmusic has set a record. The success of Qmusic is partly due to the drive time shows. For example, Mattie & Marieke’s morning show in the 20-49 target group from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday to Friday will be the largest morning show in the Netherlands in 2024 with a market share of 21.7 percent. Domien’s afternoon show is also number one in the 20-49 target group on Mondays to Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a market share of 21.4 percent.

From the Wrong 1500 to The Forbidden Word

Roland SnoijerRadio Program Director of DPG Media: “2024 was another strong year for Qmusic. From the Foute 1500, which ended with the return of Carlo & Irene at the Foute Party, to Het Verboden Woord and the premiere of Het Geluid at the major NS stations. In addition, there was the new interactive campaign Wanted Domien with Mattie & Domien who made radio live from the TeamNL House during the Olympic Games in .”

JOE

JOE has increased its market share to 5.7 percent in the 20-49 target group in 2024, an increase of 280 percent since 2023 (1.5 percent). Last year, JOE reached more than 11,200,000 listeners. The radio station gained national coverage with the acquisition of a national FM and DAB+ frequency.

Roland Snoeijer: “We started with an ambitious plan in 2023, but could not have dreamed that within a year JOE would have gained such a permanent place with more than 2 million weekly listeners. JOE has successfully continued to build on a clear sound with recognizable and timeless hits from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. And recognizable programming with Kai Merckx in the afternoon and Coen Swijnenberg & Sander Lantinga in the morning.”
