Ocean disturbances have occurred one after the other over the past few days. They were supplied with soft air laden with humidity so that precipitation was copious in the west and north of the country. The Pays de le Loire, Brittany, Normandy and the regions north of the Seine were the most rained.

Over a large northern half, the rainfall accumulations often correspond to 3 weeks of precipitation in the space of 8 days. With saturated soils and the absence of evaporation at this time of year, the rain does not infiltrate and quickly reaches the watercourses which react with floods and even some overflowing of watercourses in certain sectors. The Vigicrues organization has placed numerous rivers on orange level vigilance: the Touques, the Dives, the Orne and the Epte in Normandy, the Vilaine and the Sèche in Brittany, the Sèvre Nantaise in Vendée and in the Deux-Sèvres.

A final disruption this Friday
A final disturbance crosses the western and central regions this Friday with moderate snow between Lower Normandy and Burgundy, and sustained rain in the western and south-western regions. This Friday, if the decline should affect the watercourses located north of the Seine, the watercourses on the western side of the country will be able to react again with new floods after a slight decline.

A lasting improvement from the weekend
With the installation of anticyclonic conditions from the weekend, weather conditions will quickly improve. The last rains will affect the regions located south of the Garonne on Saturday. From Sunday, the weather will become dry again everywhere and the floods will be widespread. With a blocking high pressure building up, dry weather is expected to persist at least until the end of next week.
