Status quo for the box office podium. For the third consecutive week, “Mufasa: The Lion King” is at the top of the most seen films in French theaters. The live action remake of the Disney studio classic has more than 3.57 million admissions, but shows a drop in attendance of 28% over one week. The continuation of the adventures of “Sonic” remains in second position for its second week of operation. The blockbuster which marks Jim Carrey’s return to the screens attracted more than 650,000 additional spectators, or 57% less than the previous week. A very good score nonetheless, which allows it to get closer to 2 million entries. “Vaiana 2” continues to chart its course and exceeds 7.5 million admissions since its theatrical release 6 weeks ago.

“A bear in the Jura” attracts the curious

However, things are changing in the rest of the ranking. The first novelty to establish itself in the Top 10 arrives at the foot of the podium. “A Bear in the Jura”, a crazy thriller directed by Franck Dubosc, in which he stars alongside Laure Calamy and Benoît Poelvoorde, attracted more than 450,000 spectators to cinemas. A very good start for the comedian, who is trying out a new genre. However, he did less well than with his first production, “Everybody Stand Up”, which attracted more than 897,000 spectators in its first week in March 2018. The comedy in which he shared the poster with Alexandra Lamy had a total of by 2.38 million French people in theaters.

Just behind, “En fanfare” with Benjamin Lavernhe continues its very good run and is approaching 2 million spectators. Emmanuel Courcol’s film precedes “Vingt Dieux”, a drama by Louise Courvoisier, which gains one place in the ranking compared to last week. The second and last novelty in the ranking arrives in 7th position. “Love in the Present”, a romantic drama starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, attracted just over 153,000 spectators.

The trio at the end of the ranking is made up of “Conclave”, a religious thriller directed by Ralph Fiennes, which lost 2 places, the horror film “Nosferatu”, stable over a week, and the comedy “Under the Nuts”, directed by Hakim Bougheraba, who goes from 5th to 10th place. Note the release of the top of the musical “Wicked” with Ariana Grande, after 5 weeks of operation. “Never without my psychiatrist”, with Christian Clavier and Baptiste Lecaplain, suffered the same fate.
