Optimal snow conditions and bright sunshine: these are perfect conditions for a ski race. It won’t be that easy on the Chuenisbärgli – at least not on Saturday.
The racing program has already been changed. For the giant slalom on Sunday it should be dry and sunny at times, if not often. Let’s look at the details.
Slalom on transition day
The race weekend is located exactly between cloudy Friday and sunny Monday. The snowfall will decrease during Saturday (Slalom). The previously stormy wind on the summits is also becoming significantly weaker.
It will probably still snow during the first slalom run on Saturday. It is still unclear whether it will be dry or even partly sunny for the second run. On Sunday visibility could only be limited by high fog. The sun is already making its way up high. You can watch it live in the SRF Sport app:

Race preparation: rain, fresh snow, rain, fresh snow?
It’s likely to be hot on the slopes on Friday evening. Snowfall will begin on Friday. There will be a total of around 20 mm of rain until Saturday morning. That would correspond to around 20 cm of new snow if there wasn’t also rain.
The shaded area in the chart below shows: The snow line could temporarily increase Friday evening. It will snow at first, then it will probably rain and then it will snow again on Saturday night. By the way, on Thursday there will also be rain (during the day) and then snow again (in the evening) in the piste area (1300 to 1700 m).
Comforting conclusion: Fortunately, the races only take place after this snowfall rollercoaster ride.
