For the third time in a row, Grenoble is in the final of the Coupe de France. The Brûleurs de Loups defeated the Diables Rouges de Briançon to reach this one. In the first third, it is Christophe Boivin who stands out. He is on the lookout for Alexandre Mallet's pass just in front of the goal, to open the scoring. We find him at the start of the second half, scoring a double. After a subtle deflection from Kyle Hardy, he finished in the center for the 2-0. The difference in the championship between the two teams is felt in this match. Before the half hour mark, Sacha Treille already scored the third goal. Adel Koudri attempts a shot, stopped by Griffen Outhouse. But the Isère captain follows well to shake the nets. Per Hanberg's men are not satisfied, ideally launching the last act. François Beauchemin finds an improbable angle and rewards the work of Christophe Boivin against his opposite number then Guillaume Leclerc joins the party, scoring in an empty cage to complete the success (0-5, 54'). First shutout for Matija Pintaric in the Coupe de France this season, with 24 saves.
11 seconds is the time it took Braeden Shaw to launch the Dukes into this Coupe de France semi-final. After a very good pass from Lucien Onno, he anticipates Oskari Setanen's exit and can then finish. After his status as a scorer, he took on the role of assistant. His attempt hits the Plexiglas and returns to the playing area. Sami Tavernier follows well, unlike the Rouen goalkeeper, and gives his team two goals in advance after nine minutes. Second in the Synerglace Ligue Magnus rankings, the Angevins leave the locals no chance. Braeden Shaw scored twice, left alone by the defense after good work from Robin Gaborit. In the process, Jonathan Charbonneau also made his mark by concluding a very good counterattack alone. The Rouennais change the goalkeeper with the entry of Gaëtan Richard. But the fate of the match seemed sealed when Sami Taverier also scored twice for a score of 5-0 after 35 minutes. He is finishing a counter orchestrated by Braeden Shaw, which he concludes in the opposite corner. It's not two but three goals that Sami Tavernier will score to finish the job. Mathew Wilkins sends him a sublime pass, he finishes with the help of the post for 6-0 in the last minutes. Matthew O'Connor achieves his second shutout of the competition with 27 saves. After a controlled meeting, the Angevins returned to the final, which they had left in 2022.
If both teams are regulars at this Coupe de France, this final will be truly unique! Grenoble will try to retain its title for the third consecutive year. Les Brûleurs de Loups have already won the Pete Laliberté Trophy six times (1994, 2008, 2009, 2017, 2023, 2024). The Dukes of Angers return to the final, which they had played and won for the last time in 2022. For the first edition after COVID, 2000 people went to the Aren'Ice in Cergy-Pontoise and had was able to attend the Angevin coronation at the end of a crazy match against the Raptors of Gap (5-4prl). The residents of Angers IceParc also won the grail in 2007 and 2014.
