Erica: what are the differences between Camilla Läckberg's novels and the TF1 series with Julie de Bona and Grégory Fitoussi

The new TF1 detective series, Erica, arrives this Monday January 6 at 9:15 p.m. It is adapted from the first three novels by Swedish Camilla Läckberg, a key figure in Scandinavian crime fiction, whose works have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. Julie de Bona returned to what attracted her to the series.

Erica is the new detective series from TF1, which begins this Monday January 6 on TF1. A fiction adapted from the novels of Camilla Läckberg, with Julie de Bona and Grégory Fitoussi in the main roles. When Erica returns to her hometown of Port-Clément, everything seems to be going wrong. She lost her parents, her partner left her because of her inability to have children, and even her sister moved away from her. She is a wounded woman, looking for comfort and love. However, his life takes a turn when an investigation disrupts his daily life. If the heroine of the novels lived in the small coastal town of Fjällbacka, in Sweden, the plot of this French television adaptation takes a completely different setting: the story was filmed in Hossegor, in the Landes.

Interviewed by The ParisianCamilla Läckberg spoke about the adaptation of the series to her thriller. Very involved in the writing process, the author ensured that fans of her books rediscover the spirit of the investigations and the complexity of the universe she created. “This is important for readers. If they liked the books, it's good that they recognize Erica and Patrick in the series. I wanted the universe to be respected, even if everything cannot be the same.” explains the Scandinavian author.

Erica: the French adaptation respects the essence of the novels

Julie de Bona, who lends her features to Ericaknew how to make the character his own while reinterpreting him in a French context. Camilla Läckberg specifies: “It's a French series. We shouldn't make it a Swedish series in which French is spoken. There is a cultural difference. Erica gestures a lot more than in the Swedish version. She is French, and it's like That’s what it must be. I find it very funny.” This is also what convinced the 44-year-old actress, seen this year in the cinematic box office Le Comte de Monte Cristoto accept the role. “If it had been darker, maybe I wouldn't have been the right person. What I liked was precisely its sunny side. Erica is a little tart candy, passionate, exciting and unbearably irresistible,” confided Olivia de Bona's sister 7 Days .

The setting of the series filmed in Hossegor was also carefully chosen with the agreement of Camilla Läckberg: “When it came to finding the location, they sent me photos and asked: Could it work like Fjällbacka?” See you this evening on TF1 to find out.
