the essential
The Haut-Garonne flyhalf, aged just 21, experienced the thrill of a first start in the Top 14 this Saturday, January 4 (14th day). With the young Toulouse players, he almost got a draw at Marcel-Deflandre against the Rochelais (22-19 defeat on the wire).
We didn't sense any complexes from you. How did you experience this part?
During the week, we were given a lot of help so that we could arrive in good conditions and afterwards, once on the ground, we did simple things that we knew how to do. We went on defense, on conquest, the guys were very clean. It's true that La Rochelle was very solid but by doing simple things and playing rugby, we were able to get through it.

You were still put under a lot of pressure…
There are quite a few situations where we escape at the last minute with close calls, but it's part of the character of the team we had today to never give up and that's which meant that we came away with a defensive bonus. We saw it at the end, everyone was running, everyone was getting away with it even if we were burnt out.

Can you tell us about your drop (in the 77th, which almost allowed Toulouse to snatch a draw)?
We arrive in the goal and honestly, I think more about trying to score than hitting the drop. It’s Ange in 9 who says to me: “Val, the drop, the drop!”. So I get started, then he passes me and I'm lucky that he passes because I don't touch him very well (laughs).
