Discover our tops and our flops following the draw between Lille and Nantes (1-1) this Saturday on the lawn of the Decathlon Arena-Stade Pierre-Mauroy on the occasion of the 16th day of Ligue 1.
The tops
Cabella master of the game
Rémy Cabella will have met expectations during this draw between Lille and Nantes. Placed on the right wing by Bruno Genesio, the LOSC winger was the driving force behind his team, particularly in the first period. If he did not score, he will have put pressure on the Nantes rearguard, who struggled against him in duels and dribbling. The waste seen on the crosses and the lost balls do not, however, erase the overall impression of his performance for this first outing in 2025.
Abline was right to insist
Fortunately Mathis Abline was there on the Nantes side. The former Rennes player was a beacon in the night within the offensive line aligned by Antoine Kombouaré. Indeed, he was responsible for four of FCN's six attempts in this match and will remain the only one to have caught the frame. Added to this is efficiency in duels and dribbling. Efforts which ended up paying off at the start of the last 20 minutes when he deceived the vigilance of Lucas Chevalier from the penalty spot. He gave way to Nicolas Pallois for added time.
André intractable in the middle
As a good captain, Benjamin André set an example in midfield. If he lacked success in front of goal with neither of his two attempts having caught the frame, he was almost unplayable in the duels even though he played a very large number of balls. He also knew how to actively recover the ball, to make us forget his propensity to lose control in the face of the aggressiveness of the Nantes team. An overall performance which will remain satisfactory.
The flops
Ganago with absent subscribers
For Ignatius Ganago, this meeting will have been very complicated. Aligned at the forefront of the attack, the Cameroonian was weaned from balls and appeared absolutely harmless. Indeed, he only took his chance once without calling on Lucas Chevalier while not emerging victorious from any duel during the 82 minutes spent on the pitch. He gave way to Marcus Coco for the end of the match.
David did not shine
Impressive during the first half of the season, Jonathan David began the second with a disappointing match against Nantes. In a team that gradually suffered against Nantes, the Canadian was never able to put himself in a good position against Anthony Lopes' goal. The result was no shots taken, no duels won and no successful dribbles. This will remain a match to forget for the Lille striker.
Ghostly Thomas
Like Ignatius Ganago, Sorba Thomas will not have shone on the right wing of the Nantes attack. The Welshman, too little found at the forefront by his teammates, was in great difficulty against the Lille defense when he had the ball at his feet. Indeed, he was dominated in the duels and did not manage the slightest cross. Without influence on his team's play, he returned a copy that was almost blank at the end of this meeting.
