Discover our tops and our flops following OGC Nice's success against Stade Rennais (3-2) during the 16th day of Ligue 1.
The tops
Evann Guessand
Evann Guessand had not scored for two months and Nice's victory in Brest (0-1). But the young Nice striker has regained his effectiveness in front of goal to start the year 2025 well (12th), with a seventh goal in Ligue 1 this season. He also offered Nice's third goal to Gaëtan Laborde on a plate at the end of the first period (45th +5).
Tanguy Ndombele
Tanguy Ndombele started 2025 as he finished 2024, shining in midfield. After a first try at the start of the match, the French international (7 caps) then ideally launched Evann Guessand on the first goal (12th). Throughout the match, he reigned over the midfield, even if he let up a little at the end of the second half.
Arnaud Kalimuendo
Just like Evann Guessand, Arnaud Kalimuendo registered his seventh goal of the season in Ligue 1with a nice shot on a service from Ludovic Blas (27th). Restless, the attacker trained at PSG caused problems for the rough central defense of Nice with his movements. He is more than ever the top scorer in the Rennes squad.
The flops
Steve Mandanda
Perhaps put under pressure by the rumors announcing the arrival of Brice Samba in Rennes, Steve Mandanda made a huge restart error which allowed Sofiane Diop to give the advantage back to OGC Nice (34th). Of the only three shots on target for Nice in the first period, the French international conceded three goals. On the other hand, he responded on several shots and in particular on a strike from Boudaoui (79th). Insufficient to forget his mistake.
Badredine Bouanani
Of all the Nice offensive players, Badredine Bouanani was the most discreet and the only one not to be decisive. Positioned as a number 10, Bouanani, however, remained on two goals in the last two matches against Le Havre (2-1) and Montpellier (2-2). He was replaced by Mohamed-Ali Cho, returning from injury like several Nice players.
Albert Grønbaek
Grønbæk caused a sensation in his first matches in Ligue 1 after arriving from Norway. But the Danish attacking midfielder has been disappointing for many weeks and the confidence given by Jorge Sampaoli does not allow him to recover. Starting again in Nice this Friday, the Danish international was replaced at half-time after the first 45 minutes where he almost missed everything.
