This closed meeting, which will be attended by a number of officials from the central administration of the Ministry of the Interior, along with the governor of Al Haouz Province and a number of heads of departments, during which many files related to the earthquake will be opened, before heading to the command of three people on board a Royal Gendarmerie helicopter, to determine the progress of the operation. Reconstruction.
Al-Dardawi’s visit comes after the Interior Ministry announced the arrest of a number of officials in the Al Haouz earthquake relocation program.
The Ministry of Interior reported that a number of those affected by the Al Haouz earthquake were subjected to fraud by contractors who took advantage of their need to rebuild their homes, which prompted the authorities to intervene, arrest one of those involved, and prosecute others.
She explained that one of the contractors, residing in the Bouzouk Ait Mello roundabout, defrauded 14 beneficiaries from the Taghazout roundabout in the Amkdal community, and 4 beneficiaries from the Tinmel roundabout in the Thalassa Nyaqoub community, as he violated the contracts concluded with them and did not commit to completing the works according to the required technical standards.
In a written answer to the question of the Justice and Development Party’s parliamentary group, Interior Minister Laftit stated that as soon as the local authorities learned of these violations, the contractor in question was summoned and urged to complete the works or return the amounts received. The victims were also invited to file complaints with the Public Prosecution and as a result, The Royal Gendarmerie of Ait Melloul arrested the contractor involved.
The authorities also monitored another contractor residing in the Tassa Yirkan roundabout in the Yirkan community. He had violated contracts he had concluded with beneficiaries of the Arab roundabout in the Asni community, and he is currently the subject of a search warrant.
A third case was also recorded of a contractor from Beni Mellal, who did not adhere to contracts signed with beneficiaries from the Douaires of Tanzirt, Mrigha Haute, and Al-Azib in Jemaa and Berkane, and despite the attempts of the local authority to communicate with him, the victims were invited to submit official complaints to pursue him legally.
Regarding the accusations of recommending the first contractor by the commander of the Wirkan command and the authority’s agents, the Minister of the Interior explained that the investigations did not prove the commander’s involvement, while reference was made to two authority’s agents who were officially heard and confirmed that their role was limited to facilitating the work of the contractors and following up on the works without recommending any party. .
The regional authority took strict disciplinary measures against any authority agent proven to be involved in exploiting those affected.
