Bank Al-Maghrib’s latest bulletin on monetary statistics showed that bank loans directed to the non-financial sector recorded an increase in growth of 2.5 percent, compared to 2.4 percent recorded last October.

The Bank of Morocco explained that this recession covers the acceleration in the increase in loans allocated to private non-financial companies from 1.5 percent to 1.8 percent and those allocated to public companies from 2.7 percent to 4.5 percent during the past month. Loans directed to families also declined from 1 percent to 0.8 percent.

On the other hand, loans directed to private individuals witnessed a decline from 2.5 percent to 2.1 percent, and the decline in the growth of loans allocated to individual contractors worsened to 9.9 percent after 10.6 percent.

Depending on the economic purpose, the development of bank loans directed to the non-financial sector covers a slowdown in the pace of growth of treasury facilities from 0.9 percent to 0.2 percent, and an increase in the growth of equipment loans from 7.4 percent to 8.2 percent, in addition to a stagnation. In real estate loans at 2.2 percent, as well as consumer loans at 1.4 percent.

Regarding non-performing debts, their rate increased from 3.5 percent to 3.8 percent in October 2024, and their rate among loans stabilized at 8.7 percent after it had been 8.8 percent.
