Over the past two weeks, Rotterdam has been shocked by three apparently random shootings, two of which were fatal. The police have 30,000 euros available for the golden tip that leads to the arrest of the shooter.
An 81-year-old man was shot in broad daylight in Rotterdam on Thursday morning. A bystander saw the man lying on the street and immediately alerted the emergency services. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
It is the third in a series of seemingly random shootings, the first two of which were fatal. On December 21, a 63-year-old man was shot in the same neighborhood. A week later, on December 28, a 58-year-old man was found again in the same neighborhood with a gunshot wound. Both men succumbed to their injuries shortly afterwards.

The Rotterdam police are “seriously taking into account” that there is a connection between the three incidents. She distributed a photo of the possible suspect: a man with a light complexion, a black jacket from the brand The North Face, and a gray hoodie. The police promise a reward of 30,000 euros for the golden tip that leads to his arrest.
“Everything the Dutch police has to offer is now being used to solve this case,” says a spokesperson for the Rotterdam police. A 20-year-old Amsterdam resident was arrested on Monday and is suspected of involvement in the first two shootings. He has been detained ever since. Police say they take into account that he “is not the suspected shooter.”
According to the police, this does not concern settlements within the criminal environment. After all, none of the victims were known to the law enforcement services.
