Arsenal made sure they put some pressure on league leaders Liverpool with a fine win over Brentford and one player has stepped up to prove he can cover for Bukayo Saka and save Arsenal a fortune.
The Gunners came from behind at the G-Tech to snatch a big win and ensure they remain in the title race for now at least.
Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Gabi Martinelli and Mikel Merino were enough for the Gunners to see off Thomas Frank’s side and put the absence of Bukayo Saka behind them.
Of course, Saka is going to be out until March time and there are question marks over whether the Gunners will dip into the market for a replacement.
However, against Brentford, young star Ethan Nwaneri came into the starting XI for the first time in the Premier League and proved he can actually save the Gunners millions.
Arsenal have unearthed a new gem in Ethan Nwaneri
Everyone in English football knows that Ethan Nwaneri is one of the top young players in Europe and this season, Mikel Arteta has given him his chance.
However, Brentford was his first Premier League start and when Arsenal needed someone to step up, Nwaneri did just that.
The 17-year-old provided an assist for the Gunners and was a key factor in how they came from behind to win.
Indeed, those watching the game will have noticed why Arteta picks Nwaneri, with his positional sense and knowing when to press and not being remarkable for his age.
Mikel Arteta has called Nwaneri a ‘fearless’ talent in the past and clearly has no problem using him.
At the G-Tech, Nwaneri’s performance over nearly 80 minutes of football was that of a seasoned Premier League player.
And as it stands, Nwaneri stands to save Arsenal millions in the market if he can stay fit and maintain his form.
