This is the first good news of the year. The 2025 school calendar is (very) favorable to us, with all public holidays falling on weekdays. To take full advantage of it, you must work from Monday to Friday only, have all your public holidays available, and make strategic date choices. We'll explain it to you.
A, B or C: what is your zone?
The zone A includes the academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon and Poitiers.
The zone B includes the academies of Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Normandy, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes and Strasbourg.
The zone C includes the academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse and Versailles.
New Year
After this Wednesday January 1st holiday, the smart ones who sat down on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd will enjoy five days of well-deserved rest. Classes will resume on Monday January 6.
Easter
Easter Monday, April 21, being a public holiday, it offers a three-day or even four-day weekend by placing either Friday April 18 or Tuesday 22.
May 1st and 8th
The strategic May 1st and 8th fall on a Thursday, which allows you to accumulate 11 days of rest in a row by only asking to be off five days, May 2, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
-L’Ascension
On Ascension, a public holiday with a flexible date, four days of rest are possible between Thursday May 29, setting aside Friday the 30th, and Sunday June 1st.
Pentecost
Thanks to Pentecost Monday, a public holiday also with a flexible date which this year occurs on Monday June 9, a three-day weekend is possible, June 7, 8 and 9, or even four if Friday 6 or Tuesday June 10.
July 14
As the 2025 National Day falls on a Monday, it will be possible to bridge the gap for three days, from Saturday July 12 to Monday July 14.
August 15
With Friday August 15, Assumption Day, a small window of three days to escape is possible from the 15th to the 17th.
And then?
The 2025-2026 school year seems far away, yet we already know how it will be organized. It will begin on Monday September 1, 2025 for students and Friday August 29 for teachers. Seven weeks will separate the start of the school year from the All Saints' Day holidays (from Saturday October 18 to Monday November 3) and seven weeks will also separate the latter from the Christmas holidays (from Saturday December 20, 2025 to Monday January 5, 2026).
