The Techno-Science.net team is pleased to extend its best wishes for this new year 2025. The year 2024, which we have just closed, was rich in remarkable discoveries and advances in the fields of science and technology.
Among the major events, the James Webb Telescope has continued to push the boundaries of our understanding of the Universe. Its observations have highlighted certain inconsistencies with current scientific models, notably galaxies and black holes from the early Universe that exhibit masses far greater than we thought possible. These discoveries challenge some fundamental principles of cosmology and promise to redefine our view of the origins of the Universe.
Artificial intelligence, for its part, has continued its meteoric rise. In 2024, we observed that it was being utilized in an increasing number of scientific disciplines, from biology to materials physics, influencing how researchers approach certain complex problems. AI has become a true research companion, broadening horizons.
In the field of space exploration, SpaceX achieved a breathtaking technical feat: the first mid-air catch of the booster of its mega rocket, Starship. This milestone marks a turning point in reducing the cost per kilogram (2.2 pounds) to orbit and paves the way for rapid evolution of space missions. With 25 ambitious Starship launches planned for 2025, we will undoubtedly witness a spectacular year for space exploration.
Also not to be overshadowed are the challengers of “New Space” and private space ventures in general, who are currently working on technologies that, for some, go beyond what SpaceX currently has in its plans. Particularly with autophage engines or aerospike engines, which could well gain traction.
As we begin this new year, hopes for 2025 are immense. The scientific and technological advancements of the past year reassure us that we are at a turning point in innovation and scientific discoveries.
