Tradition is respected. Like every 1is January, a string of measures affecting personal finances comes into force at the start of 2025, despite the political context. For the moment, in the absence of a new finance law for the State and Social Security, the initial 2024 budget has been renewed identically in 2025 by decree in Official Journal, Tuesday December 31. But the situation is uncertain. If, due to censorship from the Barnier government, the changes which appeared in the two draft budgets do not apply, others should be implemented at the start of the year.

The most energy-intensive housing, classified G on an energy performance diagnosis (EPD), will be considered indecent, therefore unsuitable for rental in mainland France. The court, contacted by the tenant, may force the owner to carry out certain work or to lower the rent. This concerns new contracts and old ones when they are renewed. DPEs made between January 2018 and July 2021 will no longer be valid.
