To preserve the tranquility of locals and visitors during the New Year season, the Mayor's Office of Medellín, through the Secretariat of Security and Coexistence, strengthened prevention and control strategies in the main commercial, tourist and high-traffic areas. These actions have the support of 1,230 police and soldiers who work in a coordinated manner to maintain order and security in the territory.

The District Administration activated the Águila, Cazador and Tourist Corridors plans, which are complemented by the surveillance of the 'Halcón' helicopter of the Metropolitan Police. These strategies seek not only to deter crime, but also to strengthen the perception of security.

“We want Medellín to be a safe and welcoming destination for everyone during this time of year. Therefore, we have designed a security deployment articulated with the National Police, the Army and other authorities. This effort not only focuses on tourist and commercial sites, but also on points strategic entrances to the city, such as land and air terminals, where “Permanent controls are carried out to guarantee the tranquility of travelers,” stated the Secretary of Security and Coexistence, Manuel Villa Mejía.

In the busiest commercial and tourist areas, police presence has been intensified through continuous patrols and control operations on public transport, focused on preventing theft and guaranteeing safe mobility. These actions are supported by the city's video surveillance system, which allows an immediate and coordinated response to any incident.

“During these holidays, we work not only so that families can enjoy with peace of mind, but also so that merchants can develop their activities with confidence”, added the secretary.

Among the prioritized areas are Pueblito Paisa, the 13-San Javier commune, Parque Arví, Parques del Río, Plaza Botero and Parque Bolívar.
