Most players aren't aware of it, and yet there are some pretty special lobbies in Marvel Rivals. Under certain conditions, you could end up play against a team 100% composed of bots.

A functionality probably implemented by the game publisher NetEase, for understandable reasons when we observe their reasons, but nevertheless This is a matter of debate in the gaming community.

A bot invasion in Marvel Rivals

User ciaranxy decided to expose his problem with bots in Marvel Rivals. Absolutely against the concept, he conducted his own investigation into why and how there is an invasion of bots in certain parts, and this is what he was able to find.

Above all, This issue only affects quick, non-competitive gamesso ranked players don't have to worry. Here is how this system works:

  • After 2 defeats in a row in quick playchances are you will be placed in your next quick match against a team of bots.
  • If so, your team will be made up of 4 human allies + 2 bots, against a team of 6 bots.
  • If you leave this part, you will be penalized.
  • All these bot accounts are easy to spot because they are all level 1, and are in “restricted access”, meaning that you will not be able to access their statistics.

The goal is relatively simple to understand on the NetEase side, it is to encourage players to continue playing by making them win games despite everything, increase player engagement and why not make them have fun and improve at the same time. But this process apparently does not please everyone, since we are talking about having humans play against bots in a PvP game while it's not their choice.

A solution that divides the community

For some like the author of the post, the concept of having games against bots against your will is a problem, but for others it is not not necessarily a bad idea since this encourages less good players to stay engaged in the game without getting run over every game, hoping that they improve over time.

  • “Obviously this is a system designed to prioritize engagement over multiplayer interaction, but it allows the worst players to continue playing instead of giving up. This system does not apply not yours and that’s okay!”
  • “Why be against it? This need to feel better is only a problem for angry tryhards who in any case will not play these games and would complain anyway. Others will enjoy starting an easy game after a series of heavy defeats and end their evening on a good note.”
  • “Winning against bots doesn't make me particularly happy, it doesn't feel like a victory.”

Others take the “problem” in another tone and try to take advantage of it in ways much more intelligent :

  • “I actually use these games to farm all the achievements related to specific heroes, since you can't do them in training games.”

It just goes to show that there is always good to come from bad situations! As for this bot “problem” which is currently not one for the vast majority of players who in any case will not play these games reserved for beginners more than anything else, NetEase is unlikely to change anything at this time.

The news is currently elsewhere, since season 1 has just been made official for January 11and will bring the Fantastic 4 to the Marvel Rivals roster!
