On January 1, 2025, low-emission zones will come into force in all cities with more than 150,000 inhabitants. France Télévisions takes stock.
From January 1, 2025, part of the Rennes metropolis (Ille-et-Vilaine) will become a low-emission zone (ZFE). A Crit'Air sticker will be required to enter, just like in Bordeaux (Gironde), Lille (Nord) or Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). Regardless of the classification of your vehicle, a sticker must be ordered online, at a price of 3.70 euros.
In the event of a pollution peak, the most emitting vehicles will be prohibited from circulating. The method is already applied in 12 cities in France. Around thirty are added to the system. In Paris and Lyon (Rhône), two particularly polluted cities, the ZFEs will be tightened and will now concern Crit'Air 3 vehicles.
If ZFEs are useful in terms of reducing CO2 emissions and pollution, certain studies also denounce their negative consequences, since they strongly constrain the travel of the most modest households.
