There was this uncertainty around indexing of the scale of income tax. If it is not indexed to inflation, French people, who did not pay taxes in 2024, will pay taxes next year. But the Minister of the Economy says he wants include indexation in your draft budget. If the latter is voted on, there will therefore be no entry into tax for those who did not pay any, nor tax increases for those whose income has increased in line with inflation.

Éric Lombard above all wants to reassure the bosses. The Minister of the Economy wishes safeguard growth. He says he is very attentive to the situation of businesses, to enable them to reinvest and rehire.

A good balance between lower spending and higher taxes

The minister sets the objective of a deficit a little above 5%. The previous government had initially based its budget on a return to 5% before making concessions, so the objective is somewhat the same. As a reminder, 's current deficit exceeds 6%.

Eric Lombard does not want not play everything on taxation to reduce the deficit. The discussion will also have to focus on additional savings to be made. It is necessary, he says, a good dosage between lower spending and higher taxes. The minister already knows that some will be reluctant.
