Freezing rain, which could turn into snow in places, is on the forecast for the rest of the weekend in the northeastern departments of the country. Météo France places nine of them on yellow alert from 6 p.m.: North, Aisne, Ardennes, Meuse, Marne, Haute-Marne, Aube, Yonne et Seine-et-Marne. For the morning of Sunday December 29, 2024, there will be two more: Meurthe-et-Moselle et Moselle.

The yellow alert should be maintained at least until midday on Sunday. The greatest caution is recommended during the night as temperatures will fall into the negative, rain risks making the roads very slippery and patches of fog are forecast.
The contrast will be enormous between the north and the south of the country this weekend, the first half will be plunged into the cold with now a possibility of snow, and the other with mild temperatures worthy of early autumn. But all of France could fall into a very cool winter atmosphere from Monday, a sharp drop in temperatures is expected.
