The visitors started very well in the Lotto Park. The PhD student was not afraid and put Anderlecht under pressure. When a ball from Coosemans was intercepted, Kvet was passed the ball. The Czech was given a lot of time and shot the 0-1 into the top corner.
Anderlecht was partly to blame for that deficit. The people of Brussels started the match laconically. The attention seemed to be focused more on the warm-up of Jan Vertonghen and Thorgan Hazard than on the kick-off of this last match in 2024.
But Engwanda brought the ball to Dolberg and Yari Verschaeren was put into position via Dreyer. His arrow also turned nicely in the intersection. Still in the first half, Dreyer pushed into the box and his curl went over goalkeeper Verrips: 2-1.
Anderlecht now had to hold on to that lead.
Yet RSCA was not out of line with Dender. After half-time, the home team even played as if it were 4-1 ahead. It was a dramatic second half for the Purple & White. When Zanka played a ball poorly, Dender came again. Roman Kvet isolated Scheidler in front of goal and it was 2-2. The crowd became ecstatic when Thorgan Hazard came on after eight months of injuries, but then disappointment followed. Nsimba scored 2-3. Anderlecht enters the winter break with 1 out of 6 against Dender and only 33 points in total.
