Federica Brignone leads after the first round of the giant slalom at Semmering.
The Italian sets the fastest time on the Zauberberg ahead of Lara Gut-Behrami (SUI/+0.15 seconds) and Sara Hector (SWE/+0.24). Paula Moltzan (USA/+0.53), Valerie Grenier (CAN/+0.56) and Alice Robinson (+0.61) also still have good chances.
The next disappointment is looming for the ÖSV women. Ricarda Haaser is already 1.68 seconds behind Brignone in twelfth place, Julia Scheib is right behind in 13th place (+1.70). Franziska Gritsch (+2.63) just managed to qualify for the second run in 30th place.
Katharina Liensberger (+3.18), Viktoria Bürgler (+3.41) and Victoria Olivier (+3.58) will not be there, nor will Stephanie Brunner, who is eliminated with good split times. Kathrina Huber also didn't make it to the finish line, the Lower Austrian fell from the starting gate (read more here >>>).
