Who is Player 001 in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2

Squid Game is back for another round with season 2 and just like its first season, Player 001 is playing a different kind of game than the rest of the players. Of course, this is to be expected after it was revealed that Player 001 was none other than Oh Il-nam, the original creator of the games. With Gi-hun coming back to participate again, there had to be another Player 001. So just who are this this time around?

Who is Player 001 in Squid Game season 2?

We don’t really get to meet Player 001 until the first vote where the players decide whether or not to continue playing the game. In the end, the votes end up being split up with 182 votes for yes and the same amount for no. However, Player 001 still had to vote and he ended up voting for yes. The only thing is that we didn’t know who he was until after he voted and it is revealed that it’s none other than Hwang In-ho AKA the Front Man.

He joins in after the Red Light, Green Light game for the main vote after he was seen overseeing the game yet again. We know from season 1 that In-ho is actually Hwang Jun-ho’s brother who has been looking for him and originally believed him to be a player in the games, but we later find out is really the Front Man who is helping to run them. We discover that he is a previous winner of the games in 2015 and worked his way up. In-ho originally joined the games after the death of his wife left him broken and he signed up to be player.

Just like Il-nam, he plays like a regular player and hides his identity from the rest of the group. He gets close to Gi-hun, but proceeds to raise a red flag when he kills a player in front of Jung-bae during Mingle. In-ho helps Gi-hun and the group when they try to stage a coup over the Pink Guards, but immediately betrays him afterwards and seemingly takes his place back as the Front Man.

Who plays Player 001 in Squid Game season 2?

Lee Byung-hun returned to play In-ho in season 2. He previously starred in Iris, Mr. Sunshineand played Thomas Arashikage / Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe films.
