Squid Game: the finale of season 2 answers this question that many fans asked themselves – News Series

The season 2 finale of “Squid Game” ends on a very dramatic note, creating unbearable suspense before the next season airs on Netflix.

Please note, the following goes into detail about the plot of the finale of Squid Game season 2, now available on Netflix. If you have not yet seen it in full, and do not wish to know anything about its content, then we strongly recommend that you stop reading this article now.

In just seven episodes, Squid Game season 2 saw Seong Gi-hun – the series' main character – dive back into the horror of the childhood-inspired games that made him a rich man.

His experience as a previous winner unfortunately did not allow him to save the lives of the other participants, particularly due to the introduction of new bloody games.

THE question that burns on the lips of many fans

But this season 2 also made it possible to answer this question that a large number of fans of the series are asking: why don't the participants rebel against the soldiers dressed in pink?

Due to their surplus – there are 456 at the start of the first test – it would seem easy for the players to get the upper hand on the guards, seize their weapons and take control of the island.

The three years that separate the plot of the two seasons allowed Seong Gi-hun to perfect his mastery of firearms and close combat. As luck would have it, this new edition also brought him together with an old acquaintance (player number 390), a former soldier in the South Korean army.

A group quickly forms, made up of these two characters, as well as player number 388 (also a former soldier, but more zealous than 390) and the enigmatic player 001.

Squid Game fans immediately knew that the latter was none other than the man in the mask, the famous Front Man, infiltrated incognito in this new part to gain the trust of Seong Gi-hun.

Player number 001 shows his true colors

After an extremely tense vote to stop the game or not, the Yes and No supporters found themselves tied. While waiting for a new vote, the situation pushes the representatives of each camp to attack each other, and these tensions cause the death of Thanos (player number 230).

This climate provides Seong Gi-hun and his group of allies with the opportunity to form an insurgency. While the pink soldiers arrive in the dormitory to identify the corpses killed during the clashes, the rebel players attack. The soldiers are quickly neutralized, and the players take possession of their weapons.

A real guerrilla war then begins within the arena. Players quickly lose their advantage, due to their unfamiliarity with the location and the higher than expected number of soldiers. But the turning point in the battle comes when 001 decides to show his true colors, by shooting two rebels in the back.

Season 3 will be released sooner than expected on Netflix!

Season 2 therefore ends in a bloodbath, notably seeing Seong Gi-hun mourn the death of player number 390. This insurrection put down by the soldiers therefore proves to us that nothing can prevent the games from running smoothly, and that any form of resistance will unfortunately be useless.

The only hope therefore lies in the operation carried out outside the island by police officer Hwang Jun-ho, at the head of a group of mercenaries. The latter will still have to manage to identify the exact place where these games are being held, and to escape the traps set up on his route by the organizers of the Squid Game…

Fans won't have to wait too long for the rest of the series. Season 3, announced as the very last, has in fact already been filmed. The broadcast has been confirmed for 2025 on Netflix, without a specific date yet.

The first two seasons of Squid Game can now be found exclusively on Netflix.
