Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has discussed the possibility of continuing in management a decade from now. The Spanish tactician has been with the north London club since 2019 and looks forward to a long future in management after five years on the job.
Arteta has overseen 257 games with the Gunners, averaging 1.98 points per game during his stewardship at the club. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the tactician said (via Metro):
“Yeah, in ten years… I’m 42 so will be 52. I think so. If you still have the energy to do it… If you asked me now, ‘Do you see that possibility?’ then I would say probably yes. I love what I do. It’s my choice at the end of the day to decide my profession and I decide to do this because I absolutely love it. It’s got it’s things, yes, but for me, the positives are far bigger.”
Arsenal are third in the Premier League table, six points behind table-topping Liverpool, who has a game in hand. Mikel Arteta and his charges will next face Ipswich Town at the Emirates Stadium on December 27.
“If the club is willing to do it, we’ll have to consider it” – Mikel Arteta discusses Arsenal’s plans in January transfer window
In a recent interview, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta opened up about the club’s plans for the January transfer window. The Gunner have been struck by an injury to star player Bukayo Saka and could need reinforcements if they are to mount a title charge in the second half of the season.
Touching on his side’s potential moves in the winter transfer window, the Spaniard admitted that he was unsure what his side would do in the market, telling the press (via FotMob):
“If something unbelievable is available and if the club is willing to do it, we’ll have to consider it. The preparation is done and we are ready if something happens.”
“We didn’t predict a situation with Bukayo and Raheem at the same time. We predicted more it would be something else: for example, the defensive line. We started the season with one of the thinnest squads in the Premier League – we knew that.”
Mikel Arteta has been at Arsenal for just over five years and led the club to one FA Cup win. Despite his side becoming serial contenders for the Premier League, they have fallen short in the previous two seasons to reigning champions Manchester City.
