For this year 2024, the National Union of Phonographic Publishing (SNEP) has awarded 269 gold certifications. A musician receives a gold disc for the sale of 50,000 copies of his album (compared to 100,000 in the 2000s) or 15 million plays on the platforms.
Claude François was the very first French artist to receive a gold disc in 1974, thanks to his piece entitled “La Chanson populaire”. Since then, emblematic figures of French music have been honored with these prestigious awards, whether gold, platinum or diamond, in tribute to their exceptional sales.
Jumbled together, let's quote rappers like Damso (I lied), JUL (Unstoppable), Child (Destin) or even SCH (JVLIVS III : TO THE END). Among the pillars of French song, we find Clara Luciani (Sad & Slow), Aya Nakamura (Hot), Indochina (Swan song) or even Julien Doré (Impostor).
Among the revelations, two artists stood out this year: Pierre Garnier who finished this year with “gold”, “platinum” and “diamond” certifications. (Every second) and the singer Santa (son album Start me again won “platinum” certification as well as the RTL Album 2024 prize).
