The events occurred on the evening of Monday, December 23 in Ajaccio.
Around 11:30 p.m., shots were fired inside Lamparo, a popular downtown bar.
“An individual who was in the establishment opened fire for a still undetermined reason against an individual who frequented the bar,” indicated this Tuesday morning in a press release Nicolas Septe, public prosecutor of Ajaccio.
The shooter fired several times. A total of seven people were injured. “Four victims were treated on site, three others presented themselves at the hospital emergency room,” explains the head of the prosecution, specifying that “le pronostic vital” of one of them “is engaged”.
Nicolas Septe makes it known that “several avenues of investigation are being studied, including that of a dispute which took place against the background of excessive alcohol consumption”.
On site, last night, a major device was deployed by the police in order to secure the area around Lamparo which welcomed a lot of people on this Christmas holiday evening. The sound of the shots notably caused panic inside the bar.
An investigation was opened to “attempted assassination”. “Multiple hearings of witnesses are already scheduled and should make it possible to clarify more precisely the circumstances of the shooting,” concludes Nicolas Septe in his press release.
The investigations were entrusted to the Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police of Corsica-du-Sud (DIPN 2A).
