She will have made television history, with her gourmet recipes generously sprinkled with Armagnac: Maïté died last night, at the age of 86.
It was in “La cuisine des mousquetaires”, on France 3, that this former SNCF employee became known to the general public. From 1983 to 1997, with her accomplice Micheline Banzet-Lawton, Maïté enchanted viewers with classic dishes of French cuisine. But also with his Gascon cheekiness, without forgetting a few well-intentioned lines.
We will remember, for example, the cult eel sequence, during which Maïté had difficulty zigzag the animal with a wooden handle. A scene recently parodied in “The magical world of Jérôme Commandeur”, on Canal+.
After “La cuisine des mousquetaires”, Maïté presented the show “À table” and collaborated with Sud Radio.
For several years, affected by her health and marked by the deaths of her son and her husband, she had withdrawn from media life and resided in an EHPAD in Rion-des-Landes. That's where she died.
