Gregor Deschwanden demonstrated his strong form at the first competition in Engelberg. After the 4th intermediate place, the Central Swiss man gained one more place in the decision with a jump on 138.5 meters and celebrated his 5th podium finish of his career and the 3rd of the current season.
Only two Austrians were even better than Deschwanden. Jan Hörl pushed his compatriot Daniel Tschofenig off the top in the second round and celebrated his 5th individual victory in the World Cup. Meanwhile, top favorite Pius Paschke was unable to meet expectations. The German fell short of expectations in the first round (8th) and later even fell two places behind.
Peier missed the top 20
Killian Peier, the second Swiss at the start, delivered a consistent competition. After jumps of 129 and 130 meters, he finished the home competition in 22nd place. Simon Ammann (54th), Felix Trunz (55th), Yanick Wasser (56th), Sandro Hauswirth (62nd), Juri Kesseli (63rd) and Lean Niederberger (67th) had the top 50 jumps in the qualification missed from Friday.
It continues in Engelberg on Sunday with another jumping event on the large hill. You can watch it live on SRF two from 3:50 p.m. Before that, the women also come to their second competition in central Switzerland (from 11:20 a.m. on SRF info.
