With its signature reverse swoosh, Jordan Brand’s Travis Scott line quickly became iconic among fans. But Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman wasn’t about to let the rapper steal all the credit. Earlier this year, the Chicago Bulls legend stirred controversy by pointing out he rocked the reversed Nike logo first. But in a surprising twist, the once-fiery Rodman-Scott feud seems to be over, with the two finding common ground—and even collaborating on a new Jordan release.

Speaking of collaborations, Scott decided to go all-out for his latest release, the Air Jordan 1 Low “Velvet Brown.” With Christmas right around the corner, he brought 5x NBA champ Dennis Rodman into the mix for a whimsical Air Jordan x Cactus Jack commercial. Taking on the role of Willy Wonka, the eccentric chocolate factory owner, Rodman stepped into character as the face of this imaginative sneaker promotion.

The commercial followed a fan’s discovery of a golden ticket inside their “Velvet Brown” sneaker box. But this wasn’t leading to any ordinary prize—it was a one-way ticket to La Flame’s North Pole sneaker factory. From the fan’s point of view, they embarked on a magical journey through the workshop. Rodman, playing tour guide, stole the show by slamming the car through a door into Travis Scott’s office.

Startled but smiling, Scott welcomed the guest with a laugh. “Dammit, Dennis, it’s the third time this week, bruh!” he joked, adding his unique flair to the promo.

For fans eager to snag these kicks, the wait is nearly over. The “Velvet Brown” Jordans are live now on the Cactus Jack website and will be available on Nike platforms for $150 starting Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. ET. Limited stock means only a lucky few will get their hands on this festive release, making it the perfect sneaker grail for the holidays.

However, Rodman didn’t always have kind words for Scott, though. Back in March 2023, during a Got Sole appearance, he boldly accused the rapper of “copying” his reverse Swoosh idea. Holding up one of Scott’s designs, he declared, “I was the first guy to do mine backward when I was playing with the Chicago Bulls.”

And in this year’s appearance, he again followed up.

To understand Rodman’s frustration, you’ve got to go back to the 90s. Before the legendary N’Destrukt became synonymous with Rodman, ‘The Worm’ rocked the Air Darwin during his time with the San Antonio Spurs, which was released in 1994.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Darwin was the first Nike shoe to feature a reverse Swoosh. Yes, before the now-iconic aesthetic dominated Travis Scott’s Jordan collaborations, Rodman had already set the trend. With its standout design and practical features, including ankle padding and a visible air sole, the Air Darwin walked so Travis Scott’s Jordans could run.

Fast forward to this year’s Got Sole event, and Rodman made his feelings crystal clear. “I had this print before Travis Scott was even born,” he quipped. His annoyance wasn’t just directed at Scott but also at Nike, calling out the brand for recycling the design without credit.

So I don’t know why Travis Scott trying to copy the original DR–Dennis Rodman. Nike, you should be ashamed of yourself with Travis Scott. What the f**k man!” Rodman ranted while holding one of Scott’s sneakers.

Even with all the accusations, it seems with the launch of their joint Air Jordan campaign, Rodman and Scott have left the feud behind. Who knew a sneaker design could spark such a dramatic yet surprisingly wholesome ending?
