München. The big Bavarians had lost 2-1 in small Mainz and wanted to rehabilitate themselves at home and put an attractive three-pointer under the tree for the fans at Christmas. Mission overachieved, the table leaders, led by the outstanding ex-Leipzig player Jo Kimmich, beat the overwhelmed Red Bulls 5:1 (3:1), collect points 34 to 36 and hope that their pursuers Leverkusen (29) give up against Freiburg. The lawn ballers, who were overwhelmed in every respect in Munich, remain in fourth place with 27 points after the controlled Munich avalanche and will also spend the winter there.

The fans witness an unprecedented turbo start, an unnatural natural event. Jamal Musiala made it 1-0 (1st), Benjamin Sesko basically equalized in return (2nd). Konrad Laimer (25th) and Kimmich (36th) make the score 3-1 at halftime, Leroy Sané makes it 4-1 (75th), Alphonso Davies makes it 5-1 (78th). A major defeat for the lawn ballers whistling on the last hole.
Marco Rose makes two expected changes after the impressive 2-1 win against Frankfurt. Peter Gulacsi returns in goal for Maarten Vandevoordt, Arthur Vermeeren replaces Kevin Kampl in central midfield. After the 2-1 defeat in Mainz, Bayern are playing with ex-Leipzig players Dayot Upamecano (2017 to 2021 at RB), Konrad Laimer (2017 to 2023) and Jo Kimmich (2013 to 2015). Coach Vincent Kompany can again rely on goal machine Harry Kane. The English superstar is the top Bundesliga scorer of the calendar year (29 goals). Lois Openda follows at a reasonable distance (19) in second place.

Sensational start
Into the match and Munich 1-0 in the first minute. Mister Reliable, Willi Orban, plays into Kimmich's foot, who directs it straight to Kane, heel pass to Michael Olise, pass inside, where Jamal Musiala and Nicolas Seiwald put the ball in together. RB shocked? Nope, not yet. Lois Openda races past Min-Jae Kim on the right, crosses to Benny Sesko, who shakes off Upamecano and scores to make it 1-1 (2nd). It has never been 1-1 so early in Bundesliga history.
After the sensational start, the stormy Bayern immediately made it 2-1, Musiala failed to beat the fantastic Gulacsi from close range after a delicate Kimmich template. Bayern are on fire, pressing, combining, winning every important duel. After insufficient clearing from Seiwald's head, Kane has the chance to make it 2-1, and Orban saves. What is going on here, how could these irresistible Bayern lose in Mainz? The Munich Express cannot be stopped, Bayern inevitably take the lead again. Antonio Nusa lets Olise cross, Orban cancels the offside, Vermeeren loses sight of Laimer, the new father volleys in the deserved 2-1 (25th). Bayern dragged the overwhelmed Red Bulls through the Allianz Arena by their noses, and the omnipresent DFB captain Kimmich put a 24-meter shot into the net to make it 3-1 (36th). RB continues to run behind, can't see any land and can only see the goal of Manuel Neuer's replacement Daniel Peretz from a distance since the second minute.
RB only gets along better for a short time
Half time, furious Bayern lead 3-1. Only 3:1 with 10:1 finishes. Starting again, is there anything left for the guests who are inferior in all respects? No. Kim almost makes it 4-1, Gulacsi prevents a second Musiala goal with a brilliant effort. Sesko puts Openda in the spotlight, the sprinter is decisively disturbed by the sprinter Alphonso Davies. Shortly later, Leroy Sané made it 4-1. An RB goal would breathe new life into the number. Openda and Nusa try this without success. The game calms down, RB comes into its own a little better against Bayern who are lagging behind. Then Austria's Footballer of the Year, Christoph Baumgartner, makes a bad pass and by far the best Leipzig player, Gulacsi, has to intervene to save Kane. Then Sané eliminates any remaining doubts and makes it 4-1 (75th). Davies makes it 5:1 (78th). David Raum comes in and with his last effort prevents Kimmich from making it 6-1. To make matters worse, Benny Henrichs is also seriously injured. Then the painful demonstration of power by the top dogs for RB will come to an end.
