Camille Combal is quite discreet in interviews. But the TF1 presenter agreed to answer Pablo Mira's questions for the new podcast Daily. He notably returned to his genetic disease which affects his eyes.
It was at the beginning of the 2000s that Camille Combal began her career. He was Dario's assistant on Fun Radio in 2004. A station for which he worked until 2006. Since then, the charming 43-year-old brunette has not stopped, whether on radio or television. Currently, he is in charge of a show on NRJ, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. He also plays on TF1 with A golden family. He was also entrusted with the presentation of Dancing with the stars or from Mask Singer. But soon, he may have to take a break from his career.
An inevitable break for Camille Combal
Remember that Camille Combal suffers from keratoconus, a degenerative eye disease which results in a loss of sphericity of the cornea which then takes the shape of a cone. Marie Treille Stefani's husband has already undergone a corneal transplant in his left eye. But as he confided, he must undergo a new one, this time in his right eye. “It's a genetic disease that you have at birth that is quite widespread. The cornea should be rounded. But we are born with the cornea a little sharper. So after a while, the optic nerve corrects that. And at some point, it stops correcting it, so all of a sudden, you lose a lot of acuity. We don't lose sight, but acuity and that's enormous. To give you an idea, I without my lenses I got up to -13 and -17 on my eyes. You can't see anything anymore, everything is very blurryyou can no longer go out without someone holding your hand if you don't have your lenses“, he explained.
If it is treated well and lenses can suffice, it Sometimes the level of degeneration is so high that a corneal transplant is inevitable. “We enter the world of transplantation with the request for an organ, the expectation of being able to obtain one. It's not the most complicated organ to obtain. (…) But it's all the same process of waiting to get a donation. This is what I did on the left and I will soon have to do it on the right. At this level, it is very restrictive but it remains uncomfortable“, continued the father.
For now, Camille Combal is not “not yet registered on the waiting list, because after that there is a year where you almost have to take a sabbatical“. “You can't stand the light too much anymore, so there's this whole side where you can no longer do this job.“, he concluded.
